Wriggle! You may have realized by now that I love memes. And quizzes. Partly because I can do bits of them in between lots of reading-for-class, and partly because (relatedly) it takes less time than actually posting. And since nobody reads my journal anyway, then it doesn't matter! Also, then I have links to all the fun quiz sites and memes. :-) Okay, back to RL . . . .
 Lets101 Quizzes - Fun Quizzes
 Lets101 - Free Dating Site
Both freakishly accurate, actually . . . and generally complementary (as opposed to contradictory).

Apparently, the Big Read project has statistics suggesting that the average adult has only read 6 of their top 100 books. Let's play a game!
1) Look at the list and bold those you have read. 2) Italicize those you intend to read. 3) Underline the books you LOVE. 4) Strikethrough the books you LOATHE.

I was on the train on Saturday with JK Rowling! I think! LoL . . . I had to look up her picture online to make sure it was her. But guys!! Seriously!! She winked at me!! I think the third time I kinda stared at her as she walked past, she probably figured she had to do something. ;)
Whoa, dude. SO cool.

Erm, so I found some balls somewhere and entered the Beltane fest? And I got one of the authors who is, um, good. And one of the mod's specials. And now I'm nervous. And I totally get giving someone who's patience you trust the total unknown - support this decision, even. But ya know. Nervous. The end. Off to plot. :)

So please comment if you are willing to be interviewed by me, and I will be quite happy to post interested questions to you. :) I commented in accioslash's journal, and here are the answers to the questions she posed to me. (And thank you for your patience, accioslash!)
1. You've been involved with fandom for quite some time. Are there any fandoms where you're more active or do you generally view yourself as a lurker in all of them? I'm a lurker in all of them. I first encountered slash in my second or third year of university, in the form of a Buffy slash archive - and after reading the entire archive voraciously, it didn't occur to me that there could be more, so I didn't see any more slash for a while. I then I fell into the Detention archive several years later, and read pretty much everything in it. I don't do much more than lurk in any of the fandoms mostly because of the fear that I will lose touch with real life and become a VIE - virtual identity entity. Also, of course, because I truly haven't got that much time to devote to it.
2. What is the one thing you wish fandom knew about you? I can't really think of one. :) I actually design my online identities fairly deliberately, because the line of work I plan/hope to go into doesn't lend itself well to ill-timed disclosures about authors of pr0n. I am not ashamed of my tastes or of my hobbies, but I'd like to avoid the unnecessarily public revelation of, "And Ms. _____, do the words 'his cock slipped through the tight ring of muscle' mean anything to you? Did you or did you not take characters from a children's novel and deliberately and blatantly sexualize them?" If my career path veers away from the public eye, I've no doubt I will become more honest with my online personas; I just want to keep my options more open for a while. It's the same reason I have no identifying marks or tattoos. ;)
3. If you could bring one fictional character to life, who would you choose? Most likely, Phedre no Delaunay de Montreve, heroine of Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel trilogy. Possibly, for that matter, Messire Anafiel Delaunay. Other possibilities are Belgarath the sorcerer or Polgara, or Eowyn. It depends partly upon whether bringing the character to life would allow their concomitant world-defined characteristics to come into being as well - would Belgarath be able to bring his magic? Would Angel still have his soul? ;) Ooo, Mr. Knightly. That'd be good. Possibly Mr. Darcy! When I was little, one of my teachers asked us to write about what we'd do if we had three wishes. While the rest of the kids came in the next day with a piece of paper with 3-10 words on it, I brought in a multi-page treatise, one of which wishes was the ability to become a character in any book for the length of time previously delineated by me, with or without my own memories/persona, et cetera. ;) What I'm trying to say is, a lot of time the person is nothing without their own world context, so I'd rather jump into their world than bring them into mine. :)
4. Do you think your education is truly preparing you for your future career or is it just a necessary evil? Funny you should ask this. I was having a conversation the other day with my roommate about what we'd do if we won the lottery, and the thing is, if I somehow won scads of money, I'd go to school forever. I'd probably teach, too, but I'd spend the next 20 years becoming the world's foremost expert on _______, and possibly _____ and _______ (not necessarily specific things, but Big Things), and then I'd help save the world. But seriously, I love academia. I would stay here forever - not a specific school, but maybe university-hopping. Studying, researching, guest-lecturing, whatever. Additionally, of course, since I am studying law, it is - by nature of the field - preparing me for my future career.
5. Deceptively boring question, what is your boggart? I've thought about this before, and it's hard to say, exactly. I think it wouldn't be terribly far away from Hermione's - it certainly would have been identical at her age, though I think perspective has changed it a bit. Now, I think it would be some embodiment of . . . nothing. I think my greatest fear would be a state of perpetual inconsequence. (To borrow from Dangerous Beauty.)
I'm just glad you didn't ask me what I'd see in the Mirror of Erised, 'cause I have truly no idea. ;)

Yaay! New Icons! I did not have enough time to put text on them and make them otherwise cool, but behold! New Icons! All the pretty boys. In other news, I've mislaid my phone charger. Again. This is what happens when I ride on airplanes - my whole world turns upside down, and it's really a bit off the plumb to begin with. Now through the first season of Buffy and onto the 3rd disc of the second. Haven't seen it before, in spite of my vague sort of obsession with Angel and Spike. In point of fact, the very first slash I read . . . going on Oh, 6 years ago, or so, was Spike/Xander. Weird, I know. I had no idea what I was getting into at the time. I've no idea how I even wandered into that archive. I've never found it again. ;) Aah, I love Wednesdays. I haven't got class until evening, and even though I have plenty of work still to do, I feel a bit more in control of my world. Mm, tea in peace. Sigh. Might need to upgrade to coffee, tho, if I actually want to get anything done today . . . . But happy! Hugs all 'round!

Man, I need some icons. I love Tweak and all, he just looks a bit odd next to all the rest of the comment icons. ;) I've been using the fics over at Santa's Lap to help me get through my studying all day, and it's helped! Yay fic! On the downside, I am sick. My flatmates are probably all a bit sick of hearing me whine about it, so I'll do it here where no one has to read - waaaaaaaaaaaaah! I could deal with sick if it were just the usual, during the year, classes, etc. But it's during exaaaams. Not okay. *shakes fist at sky* A'right. Done now. On the plus side, my big fic has been dancing around in my head again, so maybe I'll finish it over Christmas. Ya never know. :)

I like my drama confined to a stage. Which is why I don't confine myself to one anymore. ;) I'm a grad student now, so I have even less time than I did when I was working. I also fell into that vat of a timepit called Warcraft, though I have retained my connection to the outside world remarkably well in spite of that. The upshot is that I lurk more than I do anything else, but with the understandable lockdown in fandom I will endeavor to make myself more known through comments than I have in the past so as to not be a creeper. But the difference between lurker and creeper is occasionally furry. Fuzzy. Whatever.
